Odd Shapes

Eh?

Setup

Some interesting effects can be had by combining odd shapes together, or better yet when one is within another. This tutorial will show how to make a strange looking circle with two ellipses inside.  Use the drawing tool to make any shapes necessary.  Get the necessary CrimsonFlash preset here.

Fig #1

STEP 1

The first thing you have to do open a new white background picture about 400 x 400 should be ok.  Set background to white, and foreground to any shade of light gray.  Now draw a circle right smack dab in the middle [the figure is 235 pixel diameter] (see Fig #1).

STEP 2

Next draw two ellipses inside the circle at right angles to each other.  Just eyeball it :) when placing them.  Then use the magic wand tool [5 tolerance, RGB color mode] to select each section of the the ellipses [hold shift down when clicking to select multiple sections]. Finally go to Selection then Modify then Expand , set Expand to 1 pixel (see Fig #2)
